Rain Stopped Play

Well arrived safe and sound in Barcelona, despite the attempts of several Spanish drivers attempting to be the next Fernando Alonso and driving so close to us that we could see the reds of their eyes. Headed for the Aquarium only to be greeted by a queue that was the same as that at a Post Office on pension day, we decided to give it a body swerve and bribed Kiera with the offer of a toy from the shop....she accepted. We then found the Irish pub Flaherty's which is managed by Karla's cousin Moira, unfortunately she wasn't in residence, but as she is there tomorrow we are heading for a full Irish breakfast.
The famous Barcelona cable car across the harbour was not in operation, not sure if it is out of season or it was too windy but by the looks of it even Philippe Petit would think twice about crossing.
As the rain became heavier (Sky news weather just highlighted that the area having heaviest rain in Europe at moment!) we headed for Sitges being carefully guided by sat-nav, when we got there it had the craziest one way system and roads wide enough for a bicycle. As my blood pressure raised we abandoned any notion of viewing the famed beach. On the way home I missed a sat-nav turn off at a roundabout by 1 junction and then faced a 7 mile cliff route back, as there was no u-turn, probably one of the scariest 15 mins of my life, not helped by another Alonso up my exhaust pipe. Although in need of oxygen mask to get me through the ordeal, Karla did her best at persuading me that failure was no option and advised that I concentrate on all the hairpin bends on the sheer cliff face. She didnt particularly help with her whoops at lovely yachts that were appearing outside my driver's window. Anyway we made it in 1 piece.
Apartment grand and we have wifi and a decent safe to hold the various gadgets that will get us through the journey. Off to dinner soon if rain eases.
